NewsWatch Ole Miss

Below are some of the packages and shows I’ve produced for NewsWatch Ole Miss. You will also find my Weather Anchor Reel and Sports Anchor Reel.

Ole Miss Alums Deal with Hurricane Michael Aftermath

During a School of Journalism and New Media reporting trip, I traveled down to Panama City, Florida, to cover Hurricane Michael’s damage. We really tried to localize the story as much as possible. Through our school’s resources, we found John and Peyton, who live and work in Panama City.

Ole Miss Student Visits Florida Home After Hurricane Michael

Again, we really tried to localize Hurricane Michael and through a team member on the trip, we found Kerrigan. We were able to talk to her for a few minutes to share her story.

Homeowners Start to Clean Up After Hurricane Harvey

During a Meek School of Journalism and New Media reporting trip, I traveled down to Orange, Texas, a small town a little over 100 miles east of Houston. We followed members of First Baptist Oxford down to Texas to report on their clean up efforts, but that was only part of the story. We met up with some homeowners that lost almost everything. These are the homeowners the church was helping rebuild.

Volunteers Assist in Hurricane Harvey Recovery

Like I said before, on this trip we followed members of First Baptist Oxford down to Orange, Texas. They were a few volunteers out of dozens. This story gives audiences a behind the scenes look into the daily operations of volunteers from the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief, including one volunteer from Oxford.

NCAA Hands Ole Miss Long Awaited Sanctions

The Ole Miss football program received its sanctions on December 1, 2017. That happened to be the last day of shows for NewsWatch Ole Miss for the Fall 2017 semester. This is the show we produced. I helped produce, direct and write the show as well as switched the show.

Students and Oxford Community Members Voice Opinions Regarding Ed Meek’s Viral Facebook Post

After a Facebook post by the namesake of the university’s School of Journalism and New Media went viral, campus leaders acted swiftly to respond to the post – and that included organizing a community-wide listening forum. I attended the forum and this is what resulted.

Ole Miss Travels to Miss America 2019

Miss Mississippi and Miss Tennessee 2018 are both tied to Ole Miss’ School of Journalism and New Media. Miss Mississippi, Aysa Branch, is a current student while Miss Tennessee Christine Williamson is a graduate of the school. Since they both won state titles, we sent a team of students journalists up to Atlantic City, NJ to cover the prelims of the 2019 Miss America pageant. I helped produce this entire show. I’m extremely proud of the work our journalists did. This was also an all local show.

Honors College Enrollment Increases, Graduation Rates Stay Stagnent

A recent report from the university shows that the Ole Miss Honors College has increased its enrollment, but graduation rates are staying at around 50%. I talked to some to find out why that is.

Abbie McIntosh Weather Reel 2016

My freshman year I was hired by NewsWatch Ole Miss as a Weather Anchor. This is my weather reel from my first year on the green screen.

Abbie McIntosh Sports Anchor/Reporter Reel 2016

The Fall semester of my sophomore year I moved over to the sports desk. This is my reel from that fun semester.
