Reporting Trips

While a student at The University of Mississippi’s School of Journalism and New Media, I had the opportunity to travel down to Orange, Texas and Panama City, Florida for two reporting trips, both covering hurricane damage. I produced two packages for each trip. Below are those packages.

Ole Miss Alums Deal with Hurricane Michael’s Aftermath

During the reporting trip to Panama City, our team really tried to localize Hurricane Michael back to Oxford. Through some research and friends of friends, we found John and Peyton.

Ole Miss Student Visits Florida Home After Hurricane Michael

Again, during the trip to Panama City, we wanted to localize Hurricane Michael. Through fellow journalism and new media students, we were able to find Kerrigan and tell her story.

Homeowners Start to Clean Up After Hurricane Harvey

Orange, Texas is a small city about 100 miles east of Houston and is the first city you enter on I-10 once crossing into the Lone Star State. We followed two Oxford church members down to Orange to share how they were helping the recovery effort. Through them, we found Taylor and Jordan.

Volunteers Assist in Hurricane Harvey Recovery

Like I said above, our team followed two Oxford church members down to Orange. They were volunteering through the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief program. While in Orange, we realized that this was a story that needed to be told. This story gives viewers a behind the scenes look at daily operations, and tells a small story of one of the Oxford volunteers.
